BOUNTIFUL-Our dear mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away October 5, 2013 in Bountiful, Utah with the love of her family surrounding her at the age of 82. Shirlene was born November 21, 1930 in Nephi, Utah to LaVon W. and Margaret Jenkins Ellertson. She married Larry Johnson in Corpus Christi, Texas, and together they had three daughters. They later divorced.
She had a long and successful career in many capacities at US West, where she was admired and respected by all who knew her. She retired with 39 years of service.
The loves of her life were her grandchildren who she delighted in spending quality time with. Hugs and special meals were always in abundance at Grandmas house. Generosity and hospitality came naturally to her and everyone was always welcome at her home.
She also enjoyed gardening and spending time in her yard, which was always the envy of the neighborhood.
She will be missed not only for her loving, caring ways, but for her contagious laugh.
She was an active member of the LDS church and very much enjoyed and looked forward to her service and work in the Bountiful Temple.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Alana (Mike) Tidwell of Woods Cross, Patrice (Mike) Callahan of Huntsville, and Joni (Pat) Robertson of Bountiful. She leaves 8 grandchildren: Mikell, Travis, Wendee, Jeff, Danny, Hailee, Carli, Scott; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters, Carol Theobald of Las Vegas, Nevada and RaNae Anderson of Tremonton. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marilyn Bailey.
The family would like to thank the staff at Barton Creek Assisted Living for their extraordinary care and love shown to our sweet mom and a very special thanks to Mindi and Heather at Vista Care Hospice, who for many months, took our mom into their hearts, with compassion and tender loving care.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where a viewing will be held Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery. Online condolences at www.russonmortuary.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzhiemers Association in her name.
We thought of you with love today,
but that is nothing new.
We thought of you yesterday,
and days before that, too.
We think of you in silence, we
speak your name with pride,
And we relive our memories of
living side by side.
Your memory is our keepsake
with which well never part.
God has you in His keeping – we
have you in our hearts.
