Shirley Hampton Meldrum

This world lost a special lady, March 2, 2016, when Shirley Hampton Meldrum passed away in her sleep.  Born May 25, 1928 to Fanny Merrill and Loring Bennett Hampton.  After attending Salt Lake schools she graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor Degree in Business Education.  She remained an avid Ute fan throughout her life.  After graduation, she accepted a teaching position at Bear River High School, setting the stage for meeting her future husband.  On November 21, 1951, she married Sterling Loy Meldrum in the Salt Lake Temple.  Together they raised two sons and two daughters.  Shirley taught Keyboarding and English at both Millcreek Junior High and Mueller Park Junior High in Bountiful.  She loved travelling, especially to Hawaii. She was a lifelong member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions.  Preceded in death by Sterling, parents, and one granddaughter.  Survived by children: Dennis (Julie), Kathy (Kevin) Meredith, Linda, Alan (Marian); brothers: Loring M. (Martha) Hampton, Ron (Maxine) Hampton, and Jim (Nancy) Hampton; four grand-dogs, many nieces, nephews, friends.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 7, 2016, at 12:00 noon, at the Bountiful LDS 20th Ward Chapel at 102 East 1400 South in Bountiful.  A viewing will be Sunday, March 6 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Russon Brothers, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, and Monday, 10:30-11:30 prior to services, at the Chapel. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
