Centerville – Shirley Sheppick Holbrook, 83, passed through the veil September 18, 2014 in Bountiful, Utah with family by her side, from complications from a stroke. Shirley was born in Salt Lake City on June 7, 1931 to Claude Thomas Sheppick and Clara Berniece Kidd. She grew up in Magna, Utah with 3 brothers, Claude Jr., Bill & Dean. She graduated from Cyprus High in 1949. Mom loved high school, she was a member of the drum & bugle core and had the opportunity to go to New York City. She married Calvin J. Holbrook on February 23, 1950. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity on June 21, 1951.
She had many jobs through out her life. She worked in her Dads butcher shop, Magna Drug, grocery checker, bank teller, switch board operator, waitress, her favorite was cashier at Viewmont High. She also worked at the Davis County Clipper.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She always had a big smile and hug for everyone she met. She loved going to the temple. She had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and eternal families.
She is survived by her husband, Cal; son, Lon Holbrook; two daughters: Calene and Brad Ellis, and Tana and Jim Hamblin; three grandsons: Nathan and Amanda Ellis, Lance Ellis, and Jeff and Tally Ellis; one granddaughter Shana and Boyd Jorgensen; great-grandchildren: Tayana, Hope, William, Emmaleigh, Elijah and Briella. Also her brother, Dean and Marilyn Sheppick.
Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Claude Jr. and Bill Sheppick; son, Kim Holbrook, and baby, Berniece; grandson Calvin Richard and great-grandson, Kai James Jorgensen.
We are grateful for Moms example of love and devotion to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Porter Lane 1st Ward, 437 West Porter Lane, Centerville. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Tuesday 12:45-1:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Centerville City Cemetery.
