Our sweet and beloved, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt passed away peacefully from this life, on October 12, 2018 in Farmington, Utah. She had battled many health issues for many years and now can rest peacefully from them. She was born to Virginia and Orvin Harman on December 23, 1931 in the LDS Maternity Ward Hospital in Murray, Utah. She grew up with her 3 siblings, Maurine, Deon and Dean. She graduated from Granger high in 1951. Later, she married John Harry Wigren in 1958, and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1996. She helped raise two of John’s children, Randy and Connie and was blessed with a son of their own, Brent John Wigren. She was known for her piano and organ playing at church and her love of music. She enjoyed reading, designing, shopping, ice cream but most importantly to her, spending time with family and friends. She loved spoiling her grandchildren.

We would like to thank the many people who worked with Shirley over the last 6 years helping her have one more good day with her family. Her helpers from, Visiting Angels and from, Community Nursing Services, were truly Angels on earth. Many thanks for her beloved daughter in law, Steffanie, for the care and love offered as through the many years.
Viewing and funeral services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018. Viewing will be from 10:45-12:45 with the funeral service at 1pm at the Holladay 1st ward building, 2065 East 4675 South, Holladay, Utah. Interment will be at the Wasatch lawns cemetery.
After Shirley was born, they broke the mold or “burned down the hospital”. Which is what really happened, and she has never had a real birth certificate. After high school, Shirley completed a year of college at Utah State University. She came home and went to work at a restaurant supply store in Downtown Salt Lake City. She was very excited to own a car which her dad helped her buy.
She met John and then after they married, she helped take care of John’s dad who was ill and soon passed away. Then they were able to move into a house of their own in Holladay, which she lived in for around 50 years. She cared for her little family in many ways. She helped Connie when she contracted polio, and loved to decorated for Christmas. She took care of John till he passed away from heart failure in 1995, during which, she was recovering from uterine cancer. With her sweetheart gone, she continued working at the farmers insurance office with Ken Evenson.
She enjoyed her friendships with the people she worked with in the office and felt like family with them. She also enjoyed spending time with her cousins on their various adventures. They laughed and stayed up till all hours of the night enjoying their time together.
Shirley loved teaching the children in primary and then providing music for her ward family. As a child she had studied piano at the McCune School of Music in Salt Lake. She was a gifted piano player.
She was so thrilled when Brent was married and provided a daughter in law and soon more grandchildren for her to spoil. She always had new toys, games, activities and treats when she saw them.
As Macular Degeneration stole her eyesight, she could no longer read the books she enjoyed, or drive her car. But she somehow managed to keep up with the family, despite all her aches and pains. We will miss this great, caring and loving lady. We hope the family reunion in heaven is a great success and she is wrapped in the loving arms of all who have passed on before her.
