Our beautiful mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma went to meet her Savior on April 9, 2025, at 92 years old. She was born November 11, 1932, in Salt Lake City to Ira and Rhoda (Tolley) Cobbley. She married Connie Dan Lives on June 7, 1951. She worked as a meat wrapper for many years. She loved music, especially musicals, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and sewing. Her grandchildren knew and loved her as “Grandmother, dear.”
Her love of sewing began as a young girl when she created clothes for her dolls. As a mother, she continued to sew matching outfits and dresses for her 4 daughters. She made many beautiful sweaters for the adults, children, and babies in her life. One year, she made 4 orange sweaters for her deer hunters. She crocheted beloved baby blankets and created many beautiful quilts over the years.
She is survived by her 5 children, Christine (Mike, deceased) Garn, Conae (Joey, deceased) Holmes, Pam (Glenn) Ostmark, Danice (Rick) Taylor, and Paul Lives, as well as 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, her sister Carol Schenck, and her niece RaNell Moncur, who considered her Aunt Shirley a second mother.
She was preceded in death by husband Connie Lives, her parents, 10 brothers and sisters (Daniel, Ida, Jack, Dorothy, Wyma, Georgia, Douglas, Emma, Gordon, and Larry), and 2 grandchildren–baby Michelle and Adam Ostmark.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Redeeming Life Church, 696 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah. Shirley will be laid to rest with her husband.
