Shirley Johnson Lloyd

July 23, 1935 — April 4, 2025

Shirley Johnson Lloyd passed away on April 4, 2025 surrounded by her daughters. She was born on July 23, 1935, in Logan, Utah, to Frank William Johnson and Grace Adra Olsen, being the fourth of their eight children. Two of her older siblings died at birth and we are sure she is now happily meeting them for the first time. She grew up with her three sisters and two brothers in Thatcher and Grace, Idaho. During her childhood she was a voracious reader and a great helper to her parents.

At 18 years old she moved to the big city of Salt Lake City, Utah and enrolled in the LDS Business College. While living in Salt Lake she started working for the Sunday School offices of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked there for five years until she married and then was hired by Lawerence McKay at his law firm of McKay, Burton & Thurman and worked there for 25 years of her life as a legal assistant and office manager. She did take a break from working at the law firm for 18 years to have and raise four children. She returned once her youngest was in school and remained there until she retired.

Shirley married Doyle W Lloyd on October 17, 1958, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple and they were married for 62 years. They spent the first year of their marriage living in Salt Lake City and then moved to Bountiful, Utah. Bountiful is where they added to their family with one very special son Kevin and three daughters Annette, Suzanne and Amanda. They spent 42 years of their life in Bountiful until they retired from their full-time jobs and built their retirement home, close to the land of their youth, in Cleveland, Idaho. After three years of taking care of their beautiful retirement home and mountain side property, they decided to return to Utah to be closer to their children and lived the remainder of their lives in Kaysville, Utah, among their wonderful and very caring neighbors.

Throughout her life she was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled numerous callings. She felt great joy when she was around her family as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took great pride in always having a beautifully decorated, clean and tidy house, as well as immaculately cared for yards; and making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, that her grandchildren loved.

She is survived by her four children, Kevin, Annette (Dean-Deceased), Suzanne (Clint), Amanda; and her sister Mary Lester. She was blessed with five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with another one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Doyle, son-in-law Dean Davidson, her parents, three sisters, Gloria, Betty, Kaleen and three brothers, Frank William Jr., Val and Lee.

Thanks to all the CNAs at Whisper Cove Assisted Living who took care of her. Your love and care for her are so appreciated. Special thanks to Landon, her Hospice Nurse, who was not only caring to her, but kind and helpful to Shirley’s family.
