SIDONIA NESSIE FEATHERSTONE – 1942 – 2017
A beautiful spirit left this world on April 8, 2017 to join her mother, father, two daughters, Kathleen Ann and Terry Lee, and an infant son, in heaven. Although Sidonia Featherstone is no longer with us, we know she is happy, free of debilitating diseases, and with her loved ones. Sidonia will be greatly missed. She was born on December 8, 1942 in Redcar, Cleveland, Yorkshire England. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1948 when Sidonia was five years old. She was raised as an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah. Becoming an American citizen as a teenager was something Sidonia was always proud of and honored throughout her life. She was a natural athlete, excelling at any sport she tried and eager to take on a challenge, climb to the top of the mountain, or run long distances. She won numerous swimming competitions while still a young woman and taught others how to swim at the Deseret Gym. She loved the mountains, hiking, swimming, animals, gardening, and most of all, her children. Sidonia worked as a bus driver for the Granite School district for many years. She is survived by six grandchildren, Tiffany, David, Lezlie, and Rachael Flinn, and Brandon and Timothy Wyatt. Although Sidonia was an only child, she was very close to her cousins in the US, Canada, and Great Britain. We love her dearly. The family would like to thank Intermountain Hospice for the diligent and concerned care they gave to Sidonia during the final year of her life and ask that donations be sent to Hospice in lieu of flowers. There will be a “Celebration of Life” in her honor on Friday, April 28 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, at the Granger 14th Ward LDS chapel, 2100 W. 3100 South, West Valley, Utah. Her ashes will be interred at the Redwood Memorial Estates, West Jordan, Utah. Online guestbook available at www.russonmortuary.com
