Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully after a long and beautiful journey here on earth. Sinclair was born May 19, 1930 in New Haven, Connecticut to Sinclair Denyer Cannon and Phyllis Ward Gilbert. His childhood years were happily spent on a small farm in the beautiful New England countryside. Siblings include, Victor Ellsworth, Isabelle Sinclair, Phyllis Christine (deceased), Alice Gardner (twin sister), Welles Pinney (deceased), and Charles Tiffany.
At the young age of 17 he joined the Air Force as a radar and radio mechanic, and served his country for six years. He was stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Belville, Illinois
While serving in the military he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This would set a new direction for his life’s journey and purpose.
He attended Brigham Young University where he met and married his “lifetime” love of 62 years, M. Catherine Bang. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple, July 8, 1954.
Together they raised four children, Kevin Reed (Lorna), Kyle Gilbert (Julie), Kathleen Dawn (Brent), and Keith Loren. Kyle Gilbert preceded him in death in 2014. Their joy continues with 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and more arriving.
Sinclair worked for Sperry Univac (Unisys) as a computer engineer beginning in 1957. He was a brilliant pioneer in the industry. His career spanned 47 years.
He dedicated his life to the work of genealogy. He served as a consultant in the genealogy/computer department of the LDS church. His computer skills and experience were invaluable to the work of the Lord.
We all love him so much and are grateful for his example of a beautiful life journey.
A heartfelt thanks goes to the devoted staff at the Life Care Center of Bountiful. Thank you for your kind and loving care of our Sinclair.
