Sirpa Annikki McConkie

November 14, 1935 — September 7, 2013

Sirpa Annikki Lindqvist McConkie passed away September 7, 2013, with her husband and children at her side.

She was born in Turku, Finland on November 14, 1935, to Meri Aleksandra and Paul Juho Lindqvist. She spent her school years in Finland where in 1949 two Mormon missionaries knocked on her door and changed her life completely. Though she was long a believer, she could not be baptized before her twenty-first birthday in 1956. She moved from Finland to Utah in the spring of 1959.

She married her eternal companion Sheldon W. McConkie on July 22, 1959, in the Saint George L.D.S. Temple; they have three children: Wayne L (Cindy) McConkie, Joel William (Trina) McConkie, Christina (Mitchell deceased) Thornley; nine grandchildren: Audrey (Noel) Merket, Hope (Joe) Walker, Richmond Thornley, Spencer McConkie, Brianna McConkie, Mitchell McConkie, Russell McConkie, Joshua McConkie, Amanda McConkie; and two great-grandchildren: Cooper and Ellen.

She served faithfully in her church callings, but her greatest achievements were her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 12, at the Bountiful 21st Ward Chapel, 115 E Wicker Lane (1900 S. and Orchard Drive) Bountiful, Utah. Family and friends are invited to a viewing Wednesday, September 11 from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N Main Street in Bountiful, and Thursday morning one hour prior to funeral services at the church. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Cemetery following the funeral.
