Soph Kourbelas

Biography

BOUNTIFUL-Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather returned to his Lord, February 18, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 19, 1932 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to James N. and Sophia Stathis Kourbelas. Married Juanita Reeves on October 24, 1952.
Soph was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He attended schools in Davis County and graduated from Davis High School in 1950.
He retired from Hill Air Force Base after 38 years of service. Soph served honorable in the USAF during the Korean War.
Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a special grandpa who loved and was loved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita, and four children: sons, James S. and Clayton S.; daughters, Sophia (Dan) Bird and Patti (Ben) Garrison; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
May his memory be eternal.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 South 300 West, Salt Lake City. Immediately after the service refreshments will be served, followed by interment at Farmington City Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main. Trisagion Prayer at 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
