Stanley Jay Beckstrom

November 2, 1932 — December 16, 2019

Stanley Jay Beckstrom left this earthly life surrounded by his family on December 16, 2019. He was born November 2, 1932 to Kenneth and Sarah Irene Beckstrom in Panguitch, Utah.  Stan spent his early years in Panguitch before moving with his family to Los Angeles in 1940.  Stan attended 118th Street Grammar School, Samuel Gompers Junior High & Fremont High School. In high school and at church he played basketball.  Stan married his high school sweetheart Patricia Gregory on June 23rd 1951, in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple.  He worked as a draftsman and a mechanical engineer even though he did not have an engineering degree.  Stan volunteered in the Boy Scouts for many years as a Cub Master, Scout Master, & Explorer Post Leader through all the years that his three sons were involved in Scouting.  Stan and Pat moved their family to Bountiful, Utah in the fall of 1971.  They have lived in the Bountiful 40th/Barton Creek Ward since 1972 until moving to Lotus Park Assisted Living Center, in West Haven, Utah, in 2018.  Stan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Cub Master, Scout Master, Explorer Post Leader, Ward Financial Clerk, Bishopric Counselor and many other callings too numerous to list.  Stan and Pat served for many years as ordinance workers in the Bountiful LDS Temple.  The family extends our heartfelt love and appreciation to Allison, Kristi and Dr. Holland, with Brio Hospice, and the staff and aids at Lotus Park, for the countless hours of love and dedicated attention for Dad.  Stan is survived by his wife Pat, of 68 years, a sister Eva Dean (Joe) Woods of Huntington Beach, California, a brother-in-law, Randle Romney of Hamilton, Montana, a sister-in-law Faye Gregory Barber of Centerville, Utah, and children, Stan of Farmington, Utah, Craig (Tena) of Columbia, Missouri, Carol (Corey) Milne of Marriott-Slaterville, Utah, Glen (Susan) of Centerville, Utah, 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.  Stan is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Irene Beckstrom, his in-laws, Eugene & Myrtle Gregory, brothers Lloyd and Earl, a sister Lucille Romney, sister-in-law Joan Beckstrom, brother-in-law Leland Barber, granddaughter-in-law Jenny Becker Beckstrom, and grandson Brad Beckstrom.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the Barton Creek Ward, 640 South 750 East, Bountiful, Utah. Viewings will be Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, and from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the church, prior to the service. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah.
