Stephen Richard Gilmore, age 64, died peacefully Monday, January 17 following lengthy complications of heart surgery. Family and friends had gathered in his support at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. He is the son of Dr. Richard C. and Marion Johnson Gilmore and brother to Mary Ann Creer (John), Kirk Gilmore (Debi), Diana Tibbs, all of Davis County, Utah, and Jeanne Merrell (Steve) of Hollister, California. He is survived by his former wife Cathy Rizzo and children Courtney and Blake, and by numerous nieces and nephews who cherished his relationship, as well as special friend Pam Self. Stephen graduated Bountiful High School in 1964 and BYU in 1971. He served a mission in the Central Atlantic States for the LDS Church. After college, he worked for Western Mortgage Company in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. In 1983 he formed The Gilmore Company to pursue quality real estate development. He liked fly fishing, but mostly enjoyed mingling with family and friends. Stephens friends are legion and many benefited from his generosity and kindness. He will be missed deeply. Funeral services will be held Friday, 21 January at 11 am at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call from 9:45-10:45 prior to services, or Thursday, 20 January from 6-8 pm at the mortuary. Interment at Brigham City Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, Saturday, 22 January at 6 pm at the Carnegie LDS Chapel, 2497 Cozy Hill Drive, Henderson, Nevada. It was Stephens desire that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Education Fund for Blake and Courtney in memory of Stephen R. Gilmore, Wells Fargo Bank, 2531 Anthem Village, Henderson, Nevada 89054.
