Stephen Wesley Knight, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully, returning to his Heavenly Father, surrounded by his treasured family, Friday August 25, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born September 9, 1948, in Ogden, Utah to Alma and Myrtle Knight. Steve was raised on a dairy farm in West Warren, Utah where he learned the value of hard work and integrity. Steve was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the age of 19 he served a mission in Northern California, where he touched many lives. He served faithfully in many church callings where hearts were touched by so many during his service.
He then married his eternal sweetheart, Renee Miller who waited faithfully for him while he was serving his mission, on January 8, 1970, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five beautiful children, Aaron, Alisa, Trent, Tricia, and Jeff. He is an exceptionally devoted father, and husband. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and being outdoors with his family. He loved his grandchildren so much and loved to spend time with them. He was always there supporting his grandchildren in their school plays, dance recitals and sports events. He loved to tell his fun and silly “Tom, Tom” stories. In the summers you could often find Steve in his garden, whispering to his tomatoes, or in his kitchen playing cards with his beautiful wife Renee. His greatest joy was when he was serving others, even until the end. In the wintertime he was out snow-blowing the neighborhood driveways and sidewalks after a snowstorm. In the summer he was on his lawnmower mowing the neighbor’s lawns and delivering his precious tomatoes to everyone. He had a great sense of humor and that never left and was with him until the very end. He will be greatly missed by all. We love you!
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Myrtle Knight, parents-in-law Wiley and Laurie Miller, brother Richard Knight (Lois), sister Connie (Earl) Thedell, his sweet great-grandson, Kayson Brisk and many nieces and nephews, He is also survived by his wife, Renee, his five children Aaron (Angie) Knight, Alisa (Todd) Brisk, Trent (Marci) Knight, Tricia (Michael) Bertram, and Jeff (Connie) Knight; his 19 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Our family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at Huntsman Cancer Institute as well as the nurses from Huntsman at Home Hospice.
