Sterling Boyd Colton beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed peacefully July 27, 2015 from respiratory failure. Born August 13, 1923 to Frank Edwin and Phoebe Jane Merkley Bills Colton in Maeser, Utah. He was the youngest of twelve children and is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. He served in the US Army Air Corp Pacific Theater during World War II. Boyd married Doris Loraine Young June 14, 1947 and their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple June 19, 1964. For 37 years Boyd was a transport driver for Standard Oil of Indiana and raised his family in Pasco, Washington. Boyd lived in Bountiful, Utah for the last 26 years. Boyd loved his family, country and church and especially serving his neighbors. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years and daughter, Debbie. He is survived by his sons, Blaine D. (Christine) and Guy Edwin (Sharon); seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
“Grandpa Cowboy” was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Bountiful 11th Ward Chapel, 115 Wicker Lane, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Bountiful 11th Ward, 115 Wicker Lane, Bountiful, and Saturday morning at the church 1 hour prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
