Sterling B. Larsen died peacefully from natural causes on April 22, 2014, still wearing his boots, at the age of 92. He was born October 28, 1921 in Moab, Utah to John Parley Larsen, a Utah pioneer, and Mary Viola Barton, a Hole in the Rock pioneer. He attended Moab and Murray city schools and graduated from the University of Utah in 1943. Sterling married Charlotte Mildred Allen of Salt Lake City in Fort Sill, Oklahoma on May 20, 1944; solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple May 20, 1958. He served in the China Burma India campaign with the 613th Field Artillery Battalion (Pack). After 28 years of active and reserve duty, he retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was a country club manager and an accountant at Hill Air Force Base.
Sterling is survived by his wife; daughter Lynne (Ron) Nolte; sons Bart (Kathy) Larsen and Allen (Leann) Larsen. Grandchildren: Sam (Stephanie) Larsen; Sara Larsen (Chris Wood); Michael Larsen; Nathan (Angie) Larsen; Erin Larsen; Kathleen Nolte (Reed Caldwell); Marianne Nolte (Trever Bruhn). He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren. Sterling loved his family very much. He is preceded in death by siblings Golda Richards, Josephine Larsen, Reed Larsen, Clara Adamson, and Edith Lewis.
Funeral services will be held Friday April 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where friends may call from 10:00 to 10:45 AM prior to services. Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.
