Steven Hyrum Plewe passed away on September 27, 2022, from pneumonia. He had just turned 79 at his time of death, following several years of struggling with the effects of dementia.
Steve was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and grew up in what is now Millcreek. He was an only child, but enjoyed the companionship of his many cousins growing up. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from the University of Utah, a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture from North Carolina State University, and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Utah.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Colorado and New Mexico, and always loved going to church.
Steve married his wife, Janet Clayton Plewe, in 1971. They raised their 6 children in Centerville and have lived there since then. He loved his family dearly and gave everything he could for them.
He put both of his graduate degrees to use throughout his life, applying his love of design as a landscape architect, and his academic skills as a researcher in the Correlation Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and at Intermountain Healthcare. He also frequently taught, both academically and in church.
Alongside academics, Steve loved art, and took to making his own unique sculptures out of concrete, rebar, and other industrial materials. He was also a builder, taking on many construction projects.
Steve will be remembered for his frequent cheerfulness, many puns, and lively mind. His kindness and wit touched the lives of those who knew him.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Hyrum and Winifred Plewe. He is survived by his wife Janet Clayton Plewe; his daughter Emily Plewe (Jason Moore) and her children, Aidan, William, and Theodore; his daughter Sarah (Dennis) Flynn and their children, Maggie and Miles; his son Andrew Plewe and his children, Ophelia and Felix; his daughter Katharine Weber (Eldon Palmer and his children Joseph, Daniel, Isaac, Nathan, Jacob, Cheryl, Naomi, and Ezra) and her children, Kyra, Jack, Emmett, and Ethan; and his sons, Thomas Plewe and John Plewe.
