Steven Jay Davis, age 61, passed away due to liver disease, on December 3, 2011 in Bountiful, UT., surrounded by his family. Born February 23, 1950 in Price, UT., he was the eldest child of Jay Stewart and Delma Heath Davis. He earned his Eagle Scout Award. He was a 1968 graduate of Viewmont High, and later attended Weber State University graduating with a degree in Police Science and Social Work. He married Joan Park on August 16, 1974 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and they have three children. He worked as a police officer for Roosevelt City for three years before beginning a career spanning 30 years with the State of Utah, where he retired as the Chief Investigator for the Dept. of Commerce, Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Steven served in the Southwest Indian Navajo speaking mission. He enjoyed working with the youth, coaching soccer, baseball and football teams. He also was a leader in scouting. He served on the Woods Cross City Council for four years. He served on the High Council and later became Bishop of the Mills Park Young Single Adult Ward. He is survived by his wife, Joan; son, Heath (Angie); daughter, Malene; and daughter, Kari (Tim); and his 5 grandchildren. Also, his mother, Delma; his sisters Janet and Carma; and brother, Michael. Steve is preceded in death by his father, Jay. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Woods Cross North Stake Center, 1509 West 1500 South, with a viewing prior to services from 9:45-10:45 a.m. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, UT. Burial will follow in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
