Steven Allen Hill fortunate son of Bonnie Kay Penrose and Finley Allen Hill was born January 7th 1957. He passed away May 3, 2011 at the University of Utah hospital surrounded by his family and those who loved him. He died from complications after surgery for prostate cancer. He was blessed to marry the love of his life Leanne Lundgren, they became eternal companions in the Salt Lake City Temple August 4, 1978. They will continue to be best friends and companions through the eternities. They were blessed to have two loving daughters Shelby (Webster) and Stefanie (Bowen) and Steve often commented that he could not have handpicked better son-in-laws, Nathan Webster and Jeffery Bowen. Steve loves children especially his grandsons Carson and Zachary. Together the family has never missed a University of Utah home football game in 15 years. Steve made sure we were always the first in and the last out cheering his celestial Utes at numerous bowl games as well as at other sporting events. We loved spending time together; whether at sporting events, traveling, riding roller coasters, fishing at Elk Lake, or just having dinner and a movie at home. He thought we were best when we were all together. Steve was educated in Davis County schools and received numerous national certifications as well as degrees from Utah State University, University of Utah B.A., M.S.W., and Ed.D from California Coast. He had a rich and varied educational experience. His first official appointment was as an assistant to the principal at Jackson Elementary when he was in first grade (quite a story). At Mueller Park Jr. High he coached basketball, track, and wrestling; while teaching history, civics and P.E. After obtaining a MSW from the University of Utah he moved to Woods Cross High school where he taught special education. At Woods Cross he also coached basketball, track, and football. He eventually served there as a counselor and athletic director. He then was promoted to district Student Services working as the director of the crisis team and safe schools. Missing the opportunity to interact with students, he asked to be released to return to the high school he graduated from, Bountiful High, where he served as an assistant principal. He then moved to Northridge High School to become principal. He was thrilled and invigorated when his kids performed to the best of their ability and was sad when they were defeated. He loved the common man, the less fortunate, and the underdog. He did all to help others feel success. You might not have liked his decisions but he listened to you and understood your concerns. He was passionate and meticulous in everything: reading, yard care, family, counseling, listening, writing, and being a friend. He influenced and served many throughout his church and professional life. His testimony was most precious to him. He truly loved all people, was all about having fun and enjoying his associations with others. He definitely loved to tell a good story. In addition to his wife, children, 2 grandchildren, and father Steve is survived by his 3 brothers Robert, Richard, and Jerry. He was preceded in death by his mother. It is evident how loved he was by the number of people who showed up to support him in his last days. We will miss him until that day when we will be reunited as a family. As a family we would like to thank all those who cared for him, as we would have cared for him, in his final days in the SICU at the University hospital, especially to Dr Kimball, Dr. Nate, and Dave (RN). Go Utes! In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Davis Education Foundation. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mueller Park Stake Center, 1800 South Mueller Park Drive, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and 11:30-12:30 p.m. at the church prior to services.
