Steven Hurst

Steven Newton Hurst died August 10 2024 just short of his 62nd birthday. He was born September 11, 1962 to parents Newton and Shadean in California. He grew up in the desert spending time catching lizards and swimming with his sister Samie. He moved to Utah as a teenager and graduated from Murray High School. He met and married Teresa Gomm (later divorced), and had 3 wonderful boys, Benjamin, Daniel, and Joshua. Then was blessed with Danny's daughter, his granddaughter Amy. They loved baking brownies together. Sadly Dan passed away on January 3rd, 2014. He is likely playing baseball with his son Danny in heaven.

He worked for Harmons and Frito Lay until he decided to start his own business repairing and cleaning blinds. He loved being his own boss. 

Steve married Sofie Paor from the Philippines and had a wonderful 10 years together in Salt Lake City. They weren't blessed with children but were blessed with lots of love for each other. Steve loved the Philippines and loved new experiences and trying new things for the first time. He loved spending time at the beach and watching the sunset with Sofie. His dream was to retire in the Philippines with Sofie and build a home by the beach.

Two years ago on his 60th birthday, Steve and Sofie went to Mexico to celebrate his big day. He enjoyed riding ATVs, and jet skis and was thrilled to experience riding a camel.

He was a big fan of the Dodgers and Broncos. His tradition was to make chicken wonton wraps and watch the game with his boys Josh and Ben.

Steve loved to go to the mountains for a drive, especially in Autumn. He used to hike but found in later years, he enjoyed the car better than his feet. He liked to fish even when he didn't catch anything.

The time he enjoyed most was snuggling in bed with his wife watching movies and eating popcorn. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2024 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Interment will be at the Centerville City Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will be held after the interment at the Island View Park in Centerville, just east of the cemetery.
