Steven "O" Dalrymple
1969 – 2018
Steven "O" Dalrymple was born January 6, 1969 in Centerville, Utah to Kathleen (Back) and Bryon Oliver Dalrymple. He attended J.A. Taylor Elementary, Centerville Jr. High, and Viewmont High. Always an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served an LDS mission to Belgium Brussels from 1988-1990. He married Ronda Davis in September of 1991. They were blessed with four children: Bryon, Erin, Emily and David. They are raising their family in West Bountiful.
Steve was a paper boy for several years, through rain, snow, and floods. Later he worked for a few years as a custodian at Stewart Elementary. It was there that he and Ronda met (another story, for another day.) While in the nursing program he worked as CNA at St. Marks and Avalon Care Center. He graduated with his RN from Weber State University and was then employed at LDS Hospital from 1996-2004. He loved making a difference. He enjoyed camping, hot cars, and hunting. A special thank you to Jeff Wilkinson and Brett Perkes for some memorable hunting trips.
Steve was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease in 2004. This gave him the honor of becoming a stay home dad. The children each fondly remember the "tickle game" after they shared their daily school work. As a family they enjoyed board games, card games and movie nights. As Steve's health declined he survived two brain trauma events. At this time the neighborhood and many community businesses came together to add a handicap accessible living space onto their current home allowing him to remain home awhile longer.
Steve was a faithful home teacher until the end of his stay at home due to the special friendship and care from Scott Stevens and the families who allowed him into their homes and hearts.
After a brief hospital stay in 2013, Steve took up residency at North Canyon Care Center in Bountiful. A huge thank you to all the staff for several years of dedicated care. A tender thank you to the Orchard Branch for their support and friendship; both for Steve and his family. We would also like to thank Brighton Hospice and Legacy Hospice for their daily care the last two years.
