Our beautiful boy Stockton "Bubba" Powers was born May 5th, 1999 and passed away June 27th, 2016. Stockton was an accomplished Eagle Scout, musician, chef, swimmer, artist, beloved and trusted friend and an avid adventurer. Stockton found great healing and comfort in the outdoors. Stockton loved wakeboarding, tubing, boating, and especially loved to spend time at the family cabin on Hebgen Lake. Stockton was an especially gifted snowboarder, and found tremendous joy amongst the pines. Even the most challenging terrain heard the echoes of his laughter. Stockton had a deep and wide soft spot for animals and possessed a unique ability to connect with them; in particular, his much adored dogs, Slider and Madden.
Stockton was part of the LGBT community and considered it an honor unparalleled to stand side by side and hand in hand with his fellow LGBT Brothers and Sisters. Stockton had an expansive and unconditional heart. The kind of heart, that grew with each hug offered or received and every connection made. Stockton knew what it was to stand on the outskirts and as such, worked diligently to be inclusive, compassionate, and empathetic to all. Stockton would want all to gather in closely… To lift, love, encourage, and petition for and on behalf of those who also stand on the outskirts, desperate to be seen as "whole" and longing to be let in. Ultimately, Stockton would want us to… Love. Simply love.
It is important to acknowledge the profound love and influence of Stockton's Mother Alyson, whom, not unlike a Mother bird, loved with the whole of her soul and worked tirelessly to build a protective nest. A safe refuge, bound and held tightly together by fierce love and unconditional acceptance.
Survived by His Siblings: Courtney Powers, Kylie Powers, Chloe Deussen, and Max Deussen. Grandparents Janet and Henry Ploeger. Stockton also leaves behind a countless array of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and beloved allies. Parents: George and Alyson Deussen and David Powers. Stockton is preceded in death by his Grandparents Robert and LaRue Paul.
