She is survived by her children Jerry English Record (Jennifer), Shane (Chrystal), Kenny (Nora), and Scoshi. Her brothers and sisters – Paul, Steve (Marlene), Jim (Jody), Richard, Sharon (Lynn), and Ruth. Her grandchildren Camille (Nate), Jacob, Jadon, Emily, Vicente, Khayman, Jonah, Sofia, Francisco, and Samuel. Also her great grandson (Vinny) and one great grandchild on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents (Fred and Evelyn English) and one brother (Fred).
To Susan education was very important. She graduated from Weber State University with a degree in early childhood. She then got a job as a Kindergarten teacher in Middleton, Idaho. Susan was a single mom with four children. She worked hard to support her family by working a second job at JC Penney’s. She worked in Idaho for 6 years and then moved back to Utah where she got a job in Bountiful and Salt Lake City. She also continued to work for JC Penney’s to help support her family. Later she worked hard and received her Master in Education at the University of Utah. When she retired she couldn’t stop teaching and became a substitute teacher.
Susan Cahoon was very talented. She loved to sing and write music. She was either a part of a church choir or leading the choir. She even participated in a singing group that would perform “Women at the Well” to churches throughout Utah. She also was a talented artist. She would draw, paint, and create crafts. She used her talents through out her life. She was very active in her church and held callings in Primary and as the music director. Cannon 4th Ward benefited from many holiday and primary programs that she wrote. One time she was writing a primary program and wanted a song that would fit into the program, but couldn’t find one so she wrote the song herself. She would also write books for school to help her student learn.
Family is one of the most important things to Susan. She would do anything she could to help her family. Many times she would sacrifice her own dreams and needs in order to support a family member. She took care of her mom for several years sacrificing time and her own health. Susan was very loving and would constantly accepted people into her home and consider them family. Many times she opened her home to family and friends. She suffered from heart problems most of her life which lead up to her stroke and eventual passing. She would never let her health problems slow her down especially when she was helping her family or serving others. She was loved by her students, family, ward, and friends. We look forward to seeing her again.
