She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many church callings. Her favorite calling was being an usher, she always looked forward to greeting her loving neighbors each Sunday.
Susan was a devoted friend to all she knew, she spent countless hours catching up and serving her friends and family. One of many families whom she made a special connection with was the Sloan family. She was referred to as Aunt Susan by their children, who each she welcomed with open arms whenever they were in the Salt Lake area. They were an integral part of her life and she loves each of them dearly.
Susan devoted much time and effort organizing events and locating classmates for the class reunions of the Viewmont High School class of 1975. Susan had the great joy of reconnecting with her seminary teacher Brother Gale several years ago. She organized a tribute in his honor for a man who gave so much to his students. She had become very close to his children and was so happy to be a part of their lives.
Susan received a Bachelor’s degree. from BYU in Interior Design. She opened an Interior design company after graduating called Woodmere Interiors. She had a great passion for decorating homes and was always happy to assist and provide her insights. In the recent years she was able to assist in designing the interior décor of her children’s homes. They will be forever grateful for her love and support in everything they did.
Susan’s passion for travel led to her owning her own travel agency, Around the World Travel. She was able to visit so many wonderful locations during her career however, she was proud to visit all 50 of the United States prior to entering the travel industry. Her greatest joy was meeting with clients who were planning their first cruise. Her love of the church carried through to her business as she was able to organize LDS Church history tours escorted by President Calvin Stephens, whom she had the upmost respect for. Her children were able to work within the family business, they have gained so much experience in the travel industry and will be forever grateful.
Susan spent many windy nights sitting in her living room listening to her police scanner. She had many fun stories of things she heard on her scanner or experienced while chasing emergency service vehicles on Sunday afternoons. She always stated that in her next life her true calling would be to be a detective.
Susan had a passion for animals and the letter S. During her life our family had two dogs (Sandy and Seaba), and five cats (Skeeter, Soxy, Sunny, Snowy and Stormy). A tradition which has carried on with her children who now have two cats (Sadie and Silas).
