Tana “Diane” Petty Rasmussen passed away from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) on August 31, 2023, at the age of 74. Diane was born October 7, 1948, to Walter and Della Petty in Salt Lake City, Utah. A graduate of West High School in 1967, she loved participating in drill team and tap dance.
She met the love of her live, John L. Rasmussen in December of 1967 while he was on leave for Christmas from Army OCS school. They corresponded while he was away getting an opportunity to spend time when he received leave. They were married July 2, 1968, while he was in transit to deploy to Okinawa, and she followed him a week later.
After spending a year and a half in Okinawa, they returned to Utah. Diane reared 3 beautiful children. Once the children left the nest, she found a passion as a district manager for Avon, working for Primrose Sontag, and H&R Block.
Her dedication to her clients at H&R Block is legendary and her passion for helping people was like no other. She continued with H&R Block until she could no longer perform her duties due to the ALS. The last year and a half of her life was spent with her husband and family, traveling when she could, and enjoying the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted member of the LDS church who loved the gospel and made it part of her life. She lived its teachings with her everyday interactions with friends, family, and strangers alike.
Diane was preceded in death by her father, mother, and her son, John W. Rasmussen. She is survived by her husband, daughters Rebecca Rasmussen (Keish Easterwood), Kara McGee (Brandon), Annie Tomas Higa, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
