Terry Lee Elsberry, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend returned home to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 27, 2012 surrounded by his wife and children following a yearlong battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Terry was born January 29, 1955 in Emmett, Idaho to Emily Cheney Elsberry and Claude Elsberry. Terry attended schools in Emmett, Idaho; Pendleton, Oregon; and Idaho Falls, Idaho graduating from Skyline High School in 1973. He faithfully served an LDS Mission to England, Birmingham. Terry attended the University of Idaho and Ricks College for a time before he began working for Utah Power and Light in Shelley, Idaho. After a number of years at Utah Power, Terry decided to complete his education and returned to school at Ricks College. While attending Ricks, Terry married Shauna Duffin on December 16, 1988 in Idaho Falls, Idaho and became an instant father to Shauna’s 8 year old daughter Courtney. They were sealed as an eternal family on May 24, 1996 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Terry graduated from Ricks College in June 1989 and moved the family to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah, graduating in 1991. Terry worked at Zion’s Bank and CompHealth. In 1998 he found the career he loved as a Pharmaceutical Rep for PDI and joined GlaxoSmithKline in 1999 where he was employed at the time of his illness.
Terry served faithfully in his ward in the High Priest Group, as a Scout leader, Sunday School, Primary and Home Teacher. Terry enjoyed photography, traveling, golfing, boating and spending time with his family. He was a perfectionist and kept an immaculate yard and home. Terry’s greatest joy and accomplishment was his family, especially his two teenage sons. He spent the past 12 months cramming as much living and memory making as he possibly could by traveling with his family to the Caribbean, Alaska, The Bahamas, Pennsylvania, and Hawaii. He would say he was “Livin the Life” while fighting Cancer with chemo.
Terry is survived by his wife Shauna (Duffin) (Kaysville), daughter – Courtney and son-in-law Dirk Wiley (Shermans Dale, PA), sons – Dillon (15) and Chase (13) (Kaysville), Mother – Emily Elsberry, Sisters – Sharon Bahr (Idaho Falls, ID) , Arthella (Norm) Harris (Portland, OR) , Cheryl (Harvey) Nelson (Terreton, ID) Brother – Gary Elsberry, (Arlington, AZ). In Law’s John & Myrna Duffin (Pocatello ID), Byron (Shanda) Duffin (Shelley, ID), Eric (Melanie) Duffin, Kelly (Cindy) Duffin (Pocatello, ID), Ginger (Jeff) Reed (Kaysville, UT). Terry was preceded in death by his father Claude Elsberry, Brother Larry Elsberry and sister-in-law Andrea Duffin.
We would like to thank Dr. Jason Stinett, Lisa Anderson, and the staff of Utah Cancer Specialist for their amazing care, and support this past year as well as Vista Care Hospice for your tender care. A special thanks to our family, friends, neighbors and ward family and co-workers for their love and support and patience through this very difficult journey. We Love You!
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 3rd 11 am at the Hess Farms Ward 1650 S. 500 E., Kaysville, UT. Friends and Family may visit Wednesday, January 2nd between 6 and 8 and at Russon Brothers Mortuary 1941 N Main, Farmington or Thursday 9:30 to 10:30 at the church. Interment will be at the Kaysville Cemetery.
