Terry Richard Price

1937-2015

Terry Richard Price was born September 6, 1937 in Ogden Utah.  He was the third child of Vernice Findley and Leslie Price.  He was greeted by his older brother Dean and his older sister Gloria.  His younger sister Linda joined the family a couple of years later.

Terry started school while the family was in California working for the war effort.  When the war ended the family moved back to Ogden where he attended Polk Elementary, Central Junior High, and finally became an Ogden Tiger.

While attending Ogden High he was very active in band, baseball, boy scouts, and his dad’s auto mechanic business.  He was a member of the marching and symphonic band.  He played the trombone.  In his junior year of high school he started a dance band called, The Vagabonds.  They played all kinds of dances from Logan to Salt Lake City.  They made enough money to pay his travel expenses and to help start his education at Weber State College.   He lettered in baseball his junior and senior years at Ogden High.  He attended the National Scout Jamboree in Santa Anna California.  He also helped his dad fix their 1940 Chevy after an accident.  When it was all done his dad gave him the car.  He loved the car and he used it to get around to all of his activities and out on all his dates.

Speaking of dates, one night at a sock hop after a football game, he got asked to dance by the girl of his dreams.  He and Patty Stratford started dating… and dating… and dating….They dated for 18 months before he popped the question.  Then they were engaged for 18 months before they finally got married on June 6, 1958.

Terry graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Civil Engineering and not long after that they were blessed with their first baby.  Terry and Pat were blessed with four children.  Terri Bowen (Eric), Jeffery Price (Mary), Paul Price (Cassie), Cory Price (Holly).  They now have 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren that they love very much.

Terry’s career took him from UDOT, the US Forest Service, and Private Consulting Firms.  He designed and oversaw a lot of projects all over the state of Utah.  He was a great provider and a very hard worker.

Terry is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He served in many positions.  He served with his wife as a service missionary in 2002.  He provided design and drawings for The Church’s dairy consolidation project just south of Utah Lake.  He loved that project and the people he worked with. Terry and Pat also loved being temple ordinance workers at the Bountiful Temple.   He loved sharing his testimony with all of his family.

Terry and Pat loved collecting, setting up, and sharing their Christmas Village with everyone.  I think it is safe to say that a tour of the village was part of Christmas tradition for a lot of people in their neighborhood.  He also loved his model trains, and so did all the great grand kids.

Terry was a humble example of honor and integrity.  He loved to talk with his kids and grandkids about their lives and would always give them great words of wisdom.  He loved his family so much.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Gloria Barker.  He is survived by his wife, his brother Dean Price (Sigred) and his sister Linda Clarke (Steve), four children, 19 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
