Thelma Welti Barlow passed serenely from this life on April 10, 2014 at the age of 93. Her life was full and rich and, true to her faith, filled with love and compassionate service.
From childhood and throughout her life, Thelma was passionate about developing and sharing her musical talents. Likewise, she was a devoted student of the scriptures and fine literature. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ, probed it, spoke of it, lived it, and shared it.
She moved as a great influential star in a large universe comprised of her family and friends, her diverse church callings, and the many opportunities she had to develop her intellect and spirituality.
Her family honors her memory and treasures the influence and power of the dignity and simple elegance of her life. She was a natural friend, confidante, and helper to all within her reach. Her teaching, based on earnest study and preparation, was masterful. She embraced adventure, whether on the back of a sons motorcycle, exploring the streets of Madrid or the beaches of a Caribbean Island, or making a playful pilgrimage to the land of Napoleon Dynamite
and each of the other 49 states. She loved spontaneity, especially if someone proposed a game of Boggle or Scrabble or surprised her with a good joke. Her sense of humor was a trademark of her conversations
and never came at anyones expense.
Her husband, LaMar L Barlow and her son, Stephen Welti Barlow, preceded her in death. Also, her parents, Albert Carl Welti and Lorraine Dahlen Welti; brother, Albert Carl, Jr; and sisters, Connie, Helen, Lorraine, and Grace. Her sisters, Ruth and Lois, survive her.
She loved her children: Stephen (Marcy Ence), Walter (Claudette Wheat), Bruce (Emily Warner), Philip (Deborah Stapp), Allen (Cheri Allen), John, Kathryn (Gary) Helgesen, Marianne (Mike Lopez).
