Thelma Brown

d. July 19, 2008

&qoute;Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.&qoute; 1 Cor. 2:9. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend died July 19, 2008 at the age of 93, at the home of her daughter, knowing that she would soon enjoy the love and companionship of her loved ones who preceded her in death. We will miss her dearly, but find great joy in knowing we will enjoy her companionship in a later time. Mom found such joy in her family and serving others. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and spent a lifetime serving in many callings. She was loved by all who knew her. She was sincerely interested in all she came in contact with. Young and old called her friend. She was born November 3, 1914 in Hoytsville, Utah to Amos Franklin and Emma Margaret Pace the seventh of eleven children. It was a family full of love, laughter and music and she recalled with much fondness the many experiences growing up in this large, happy, humble family. She married her eternal companion, Reed Edwin Brown in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 24, 1936. Theirs was a love that was an example for all who knew them. They were sweethearts for 64 years. One of the highlights of their life together was serving as directors of the Los Angeles Temple Visitors Center. Mom’s church callings were many, serving in Presidencies of Relief Society and Primary, working with the Young Women, teaching Relief Society and serving as a temple ordinance worker for many years in the Salt Lake Temple. Compassionate service was a big part of her life.

Mom and Dad grew up and raised their family in Hoytsville, and remained there until 20 years ago. At that time they made their home in St. George, Utah, where Mom lived until December of 2007, when she moved to Centerville to live with her daughter. Mom is greeted in death by her parents, eight brothers and one sister and her beloved husband. She is survived by a sister LaBelle Dean Bond; daughter LaRae Wayne Wright, Centerville; daughter, Karma Gary Blacker, North Ogden; son, Kenneth Sydna, Farmington; son, Blaine Annette, Boise, ID; 23 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to the staffs of Ridgeview Gardens Assisted Living in St. George and Rocky Mountain Hospice both in St. George and in Centerville, for their loving help in caring for our dear mother. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Hoytsville LDS Chapel, where a viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Hoytsville Cemetery.
