Thomas Burningham

Tom fought a courageous battle with cancer which he tried to win. But in the end he lost. Our family lost a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. We will miss him dearly!
He was born September 16, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri. His loving mother and father, Ruth and Lloyd Burningham, brought him to Bountiful where he lived with them and his sister Janice, for the rest of his younger life. Tom learned the value of hard work from his father. He was always out on his tractor or working on a project. He graduated in 1962 from Bountiful High School. He was employed by UDOT for 30 years of his life.
He married his sweetheart, Linda E. Lenfest, on April 24, 1965 (48 years). He was a devoted and loving husband. They had 3 children and 11 grandchildren. Family and friends were very important to Tom. He devoted much of his life helping others. He would never refuse help to anyone who needed it. Friends and family knew they could always count on Tom! Tom loved one special person, our Aunt Beverly that he always liked to visit. Tom loved playing and collecting trains. He delighted in seeing his grandchildren’s eyes as the train went around the Christmas tree. His family, especially the grandchildren, will always remember his example of hard work, honesty and charity.
He is preceded in death by father, mother and two infant brothers. He is survived by wife Linda; daughter Julie (Jeff); son Gary; son Daniel (Margie); sister Janice (Hal), and 11 grandchildren.
We would like to thank Rosemary Wall and all the hospice team for the love and hard work they gave Tom. We would also like to thank the Huntsman workers that helped him so much and the caring staff at North Canyon Care Center.
Viewings will be held on Sunday, February 24th at 6pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, and on Monday, February 25th from 9:45 am to 10:45 am at Bountiful 9th Ward, 585 E Center St. Funeral services to follow at 11 am. Interment will be at the Bountiful Cemetery.
