Tom was born in Ogden, Utah, to Thomas Harold Weir and Gladys Ada Bosworth, on March 4, 1946. He was the youngest of seven children.
Tom grew up in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School in 1964. After graduation he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Cummorah, New York mission from 1965 to 1967. As a missionary, Tom had the opportunity to participate in the Hill Cummorah pageant. He was a valiant member of the church and served in many callings throughout his life.
After Tom’s mission, he attended and graduated from Weber State College in the field of Business Administration in 1971. While attending Weber, Tom married the love of his life, Diane Knight, on June 25, 1970 in the Logan Utah temple. In the last few years, Tom repeatedly told people how proud he was that Diane was his wife.
Tom began his career in banking prior to graduating from college. His career included Commercial Security Bank as Financial Auditor, Key Bank as Vice President of Commercial Loans, and Zion’s Bank in Commercial Loan support.
Tom was an avid Weber State basketball fan holding season tickets for many years. He loved soccer and volunteered in the community as a girl’s AYSO coach for close to two decades. Tom loved playing basketball, going to plays with his wife, his 1967 Ford Mustang, Bear Lake, Yellowstone, National Parks, Memorial Day picnics, Thanksgiving, and boating with his family. Tom’s kids and grandkids nicknamed him “Hot Rod Grandpa” due to his water skiing skills. Tom had a sense of pride for not getting his hair wet when he water skied.
Tom was a quiet, honest, loyal, hard-working husband and father who deeply loved his family and valued his friends and community. We will miss him.
The family would like to thank Caregivers Support Network Home Health and Hospice for their loving care and compassionate service to Tom and Diane.
