Thomas (Tom) Wayne Brown passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 15, 2016 at the age of 93.
Tom was born on July 9th, 1922 in Salt Lake City to Heber and Edna Brown. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Navy. He was a sailor from 1941-1944, during which time he served a term on PT109. Shortly after returning from the Navy, he married June Acocks, later divorced. Then married Conna Durfee, later divorced. Tom made a living as a welder, but his lifelong passion was his pigeons. For over 80 years, he raised and raced them.
Tom is survived by his brother, Richard Brown; children Debra (Reed) Stohel, Brian Brown; grandchildren Misty (Kevin), Candie, Stephen, Blade, Samantha; 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sister.
If he knew it was your birthday, Tom enjoyed playing Happy Birthday for you on his harmonica. He was also full of wisdom. “Too soon old, too late smart”, “I love you, I hope everyone else in the world loves each other”, “Live by the Golden Rule: smile when you can, cry by yourself”.
A special thank you to his nurse, Sam. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Veterans of America. Per Dad’s request, an open house will be held at his home on Saturday, January 23rd, 12pm– 4pm. Funeral Directors: Russon Brothers Mortuary. Online guestbook available at www.russonmortuary.com.
We love you, daddy.
