In Loving Memory

Timothy Albert Carter

September 2, 1964 – February 11, 2019

Timothy Albert Carter, 54, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home in Herriman, Utah on February 11, 2019.   He was born September 2, 1964 in Nashville, Tennessee.  He was the youngest of 6 children born to William Brian Carter (deceased) and Mary Jewel Carter.

He grew up in Antioch, Tennessee, playing football, basketball, baseball, and running track.  Tim graduated from Antioch High School in 1982.

Tim served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Colorado Denver Mission (May 1984 to Nov 1985).

On August 13, 1986, he married his sweetheart Bonnie McKinney.

Tim graduated with honors from Nashville State Technical Institute with an associate degree in Computer Technology.    During the Gulf War (July 1989 to Nov 1993), he served in the United States Navy as a Cryptologic Technician.  After his military service, he worked as computer analyst for different companies.   His military and job opportunities took him to Florida, Maine, Tennessee, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah.  He returned to school in June of 2004 to earn his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix.   Tim enjoyed working for Zion’s Bank and made many friends among his co-workers.

His greatest joy was being a father to his 7 children. He was dedicated to loving and serving them and would sacrifice anything for their happiness.  Tim also deeply loved his 6 grandchildren — little feet running in the front door always brought a smile to his face.   He loved to serve and make a contribution wherever he could.   Tim served in numerous positions at his church.  He always had cash ready to give a stranger or someone in need.  He was the best tipper at restaurants, and would give up any Saturday to work on his children’s cars.   He blessed and inspired everyone he knew and will be greatly missed.

Tim is survived by his dear wife Bonnie; his mother Mary Jewel Carter, his in-laws Bill and Jenna McKinney; his seven children Tyler (Landan Holladay), Kortney (Peter Kern), Travis (Jordyn Boyce), Kendall (Monica McCoy), Kirsten (Jeshua Piña), Whitney, and Katie; and his six grandchildren Eleanor Kern, Oliver Kern, Kaleb Carter, Violeta Piña, Gray Carter and Tyson Carter.  Also surviving is one brother and four sisters;  Belinda (Bill Vandergriff), Patty Bowne, Bill (Terry Lynch), Priscilla Carter, and Paula (the late Barry Soard).

The family wishes to express sincere thanks and appreciation to the many caregivers, physicians, neighbors, and friends who provided comfort and assistance during Tim’s illness.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 12:00 Noon  at the LDS chapel located at 14550 Juniper Crest Rd., Herriman, Utah.  Viewing will be from 10:30–11:30 am.
