Timothy John Richardson
March 31, 1950 – June 1, 2012

Tim was born in Gateshead, England on March 31, 1950. He spent his early days of childhood in England before moving to such varied places as Germany, Tacoma, Washington and Orleans, France. When returning to the states, he lived in Utah and Alabama. While living in Alabama, he married Merilee Murphy in 1969, later divorced. After leaving Alabama, he moved to Freeport, Illinois and worked at Highland Community College in the audio-visual department. While employed there, he produced the film “Remnants”, a film about 19th century agricultural businesses of northern Illinois. He met Earleen Wyatt in Freeport and they married on January 7, 1978. They lived in Freeport for several years before moving to Salt Lake City where he attained work at Channel 2, first assisting with cameras for news programming and subsequently becoming lighting director for the station. His varied skills were utilized in various commercial and film productions in the area as an independent after leaving Channel 2.

Tim had many interests in his life. His introduction as a youth to the works of photographer Ansel Adams led him to his love of photography and defined his choice of work. He read a wide range of material, from physics to espionage novels. Music was always essential to him, listening to everything from Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead to Dave Brubeck when he was not playing on his guitar. After moving to the Salt Lake area, he developed a passion for hiking, exploring the terrain of the Wasatch and Uinta mountains. His talent for cooking provided many fabulous meals for his family and friends and neighbors. When sharing at the dinner table, he entertained and amused people with his irreverent sense of humor and wit and could tell quite a story. He was an animal lover and always had a dog or a cat by his side. Road trips became a particular source of enjoyment in his later years when he and Earleen, with their dog in the back seat of the car, would explore the beauties of the Western landscape, always with a camera at hand.

Ten months after he was diagnosed with cancer, Tim died at home on June 1, 2012, with loved ones by his side. He will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend Earleen (Wyatt) Richardson, sisters Joey (Richardson) Fernelius and Karen (Richardson) Livingston, cousins Barbara and Ian Waugh, nephews Steve and Chris Fernelius, and other family members and friends. He requested cremation. A gathering for family and friends will be held at his house at a future date. If desired, please make a donation in his name to any cancer research center of choice, as cancer takes our loved ones too soon. Online condolences may be left at www.russonmortuary.com
