Tyler Kenneth Erickson returned to his heavenly home peacefully at 6:03 pm on January 1, 2025, surrounded by family after a 5-month battle with stage 4 cancer. Tyler fought hard to have as much time as possible with his family. He endured much pain and discomfort but remained positive and full of faith. He is a true example of enduring to the end.
Tyler was born to Ken and Robin Erickson on June 9, 1979, in Provo, Utah. He was followed by four siblings, Kjerstin, Kyle, Whitney, and Emily. He spent his childhood and teenage years in Walnut, California; Farmington, Utah; Lewisville, Texas; and Medina, Ohio. He was involved in band, choir, show choir, karate, football, school musicals, and Scouts, where he gained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was well known for his curly hair, kind heart and friendliness, sense of humor and wit, and positive attitude. He carried those qualities throughout his life.
After high school, he attended BYU for a year, where he sang in the Men’s Chorus. In August 1998, he began serving his 2-year mission in the Cape Town South Africa Mission. He loved serving the Lord and the people of South Africa and touched the lives of many.
After his mission, he returned to BYU and in 2002 met and began dating Jennifer Box. They were sealed to each other in the Salt Lake Temple on September 25th, 2002. They welcomed their first son, Luke, in 2004. After a move to St. Louis, Missouri, they welcomed two more sons, Isaac in 2006 and Andrew in 2010. While Tyler was working his full-time job, he completed his executive MBA degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 2011 after three years of attending night school. That led to a move back to Utah, where the family settled in Farmington and has lived ever since.
Tyler’s family and faith were the most important things in his life. He loved date night with his wife. He loved creating memories with his sons. He loved cheering them on at their many concerts, games, and school events. He loved going on vacations with his family, traveling to Hawaii, Mexico, China, Japan, Costa Rica, and Alaska, and going on cruises and many vacations to Disneyland and Disney World.
Tyler was full of light and fun. He left an amazing example of hard work, dedication, faith, positive attitude, kindness, perseverance, and love to his children and all those around him. He treated his wife as a priceless treasure. We love him. We miss him. We can’t wait to see him again. We know that we will.
Tyler leaves behind his beloved wife, Jennifer, and treasured sons, Luke (20), Isaac (18), and Andrew (14). He is survived by his parents Ken and Robin Erickson; siblings Kyle Erickson (Jessy), Whitney Erickson (Breanna McGarry), Emily Massey (Micah), and Steve West (brother-in-law), as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Kjerstin West.
