V. Michael Hansen

February 13, 1946 — November 22, 2021

Vern Michael Hansen, age 75, of Farmington, UT, died Monday, November 22nd, 2021. Mike is survived by his older brother Gary, his children Travis (Rochelle), Tressa (JD), Melissa (Tyler), Andrea (Byron), and Mike (Alie). Mike is also survived by his second wife Gloria and her children, Vanessa, Tatiana, David, and Sabrina. Mike had 14 beloved grandchildren who brought him joy every day. Mike is preceded in death by his wife Sandra, his sister LeeAnn Morse, and his parents Vern and Wacel Hansen.

Mike began his life in Elsinore, Utah where he helped raise sheep and work on the family farm.  His family relocated to Riverside, California where Mike spent his teenage years. Mike learned to play the guitar and developed his talent as a musician.  He participated with several folk groups and performed at dances and events throughout Riverside, California.

After graduating from Norte Vista High School in 1964, Mike worked in southern California until he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Mike was stationed in Germany and performed in a band in his unit until he was discharged.  While in Europe, he was able to tour some of the countries with his older sister LeeAnn.

Upon the completion of his military service, Mike returned home and followed his sister LeeAnn to Logan, Utah.  He attended Utah State University and played in a band, making many good friends through music.

In October 1970, Mike met Sandra Tippetts, who was also a USU student. They quickly fell in love and were married in Farmington, Utah in January 1971. Mike and Sandra were later sealed for time and eternity in the Bountiful, Utah Temple in May of 1996. They were blessed with 5 children who Mike loved with all his heart.

Mike had many talents and worked many trades.  He tuned pianos, repaired TVs, sold insurance, and performed in many bands. In his later years, Mike transitioned to full time contractor where he applied his talent and love for building. He never left his love of music and remained a part-time musician and guitar teacher for many years.  He shared his love and gift for guitar with many students.

In 2013, Mike’s wife Sandra lost her battle with cancer leaving Mike to continue life without her.  Mike was heartbroken and lonely and began seeking companionship at a church dance for singles.  Mike met Gloria Borras, from Cali, Columbia, at the dance and was touched by her goodness. Mike and Gloria were married in November 2018, and Gloria has been a huge blessing to Mike ever since.

Mike was very generous and helped many people throughout his life, always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. He was funny and kept his sense of humor even in pain.  He was full of love, especially for his family, and enjoyed being around them at all times.  We take great comfort knowing that Mike has been reunited with Sandra and is out of physical pain that plagued him for so long.

A memorial funeral service will be held at Russon Mortuary and Crematory, 1941 North Main, Farmington, Utah 84025 on Sunday December 5th, 2021.  A visitation time will be from 5pm – 7:00 pm and a memorial service will follow at 7:00 in the mortuary.

A burial service will be held at Farmington Cemetery on Monday, December 6th at 11 am.
