Val Turner Durrant, a loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, passed away peacefully in the early hours of June 3, 2016, at his home after a valiant struggle with his health.
Born February 14, 1959, in Coalville, Utah to Paul Turner and Anna Thacker Durrant, he was an exceptionally kind, thoughtful, and gentle man, going out of his way to befriend and help others. He loved his family, especially his children, his mother, and nieces and nephews.
He served an honorable mission to Anchorage, Alaska for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Serving in many callings, he was an executive secretary to two bishops, and most recently was the gospel doctrine teacher in the Kaysville 9th ward.
He graduated from Davis High School, LDS Business College, and Weber State University (Magna Cum Laude). He had a very successful career at Children’s Miracle Network where he was admired, acquiring many life-long friends.
He enjoyed traveling, reading, cross-stitch needlework, classic cars, socializing with family and friends, gardening, and keeping up on the successes and activities of others.
Val and Melanie had three children, Andrew Turner, Sydney Camille, and Michael Todd.
A proud and dedicated father, his children were the joy of his life. He is also survived by his mother, Anna Durrant (Kaysville), his siblings and their spouses, Don and Peggy Durrant (Wellsville), Susan and Leroy Hamblin (Kaysville) and Joyce and Frank Decaria (Clinton), as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Durrant; a great niece, Paige Taylor; and his grandparents: Angus (Pudd) and Chloe Thacker and Kenneth and Lona Durrant.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville East Stake Center, 201 South 600 East, Kaysville, Utah. Family and friends may call Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Farmington Mortuary, 1941 N. Main Street, Farmington, Utah, and Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Kaysville City Cemetery.

Val will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
