Valerie Sue Jensen

August 17, 1956 — August 30, 2021

Valerie Sue Jensen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children and husband on August 30, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 65. She is survived by her husband Doug, children Carrie, Erin (Josh), Kort (Vanessa), Riley (Ty) and Cole, her sister Maggie (Curtis) and her 4 treasured granddaughters Chloe, Kenley, Oakley, and Molly with Remi coming soon.

Valerie was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon on August 17, 1956, to James and Margaret Tennant. Her dad worked as a cartographer for the government which meant she moved over 70 times growing up. When Valerie met and married Doug in the Oakland California Temple on October 15, 1976, she was ready to put down roots. After their first child was born, they moved from San Jose, California to Farmington, Utah where they remained in the same home and raised their family. Valerie worked for Hallmark Cards as a regional manager building and re-organizing card departments in stores across several states. Other jobs included finishing furniture and working for The Choral Collection.

Valerie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a strong and faithful testimony. She was a great teacher of the gospel by how she lived her life.  She served in many different callings in the Primary and Young Women organizations over the years.

Valerie was a very involved parent to her 5 kids from attending many sporting events and tournaments to working for and traveling with The Choral Collection performing group so she could be with her kids. While she loved her children, we learned she was just tolerating them so she could become a grandma and have her favorite title of Nanny. She was the best Nanny to her granddaughters and would do anything for them and with them.

We are forever grateful for her example, love, support, and even her stubbornness. We will strive to carry on her legacy until we are reunited with her again.

Special thanks to her chemotherapy doctors and nurses including Dr. Jason Stinnett, PA Nancy, and nurse Heather for their care and concern for her throughout her many different treatments.
