Verda Jensen Parker passed peacefully from this life on July 18, 2009 in the tender care of her daughter, Linda. She is a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born May 12, 1915 to Sarah Sylvia Stewart and Archibald Wesley Jensen in Spanish Fork, Utah. She left Spanish Fork as a young woman to live in Salt Lake City where she remained for the next 76 years. She was a longtime employee of Grand Central and First Security State Bank. She met VerDon Parker while working at the Stickley Cigar Factory and they were married on July 14, 1947 in Logan, Utah. They have two children, Terry and Linda. There were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She has been a faithful lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rose Park has been her home for over 62 years. She was community minded and continued to help run and fund the Flag project that her husband started. The large flag still flies over the Rose Park area. She faithfully attended Community Council meetings. She was surrounded by loving neighbors who watched over her and enabled her to stay where she felt most comfortable, in her own home, until just a few weeks before her death. They faithfully provided help, and endless rides to and from church and other community activities. She was an animal lover. She took great care of her pets and her last cat &qoute;Tom&qoute; was her favorite. She would put bread out for the birds and fed numerous stray cats in the neighborhood for many years. Disneyland was her favorite place. She loved going to &qoute;the happiest place on earth&qoute; and went for the last time on her 90th birthday 4 years ago and enjoyed every ride! She is survived by her son Terry Kathy, daughter Linda Smith Mike; sisters, DellaVene J. Post and Betty Veloy Kingsbury, both of St. George; grandchildren, Tonya Cummings Brent, Jill Taufa Mato, Michelle Goddard Tim, Steven Parker Melissa, Kelly Zenger Kevin, Philip Parker Lindsay; and great-grandchildren, Mogryn, Lafitani, Parker, Justice, Kathleen Tarryn, Devan, Jayden, Katelyn, Mia, Trinity and Tyson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband DeVon, brothers, Rulon Jensen, Allen S. Jensen and Reinald B. Jensen; and sisters, Mary Artence and Josephine Burningham. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Rose Park Stake Center, 760 North 1200 West, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Thursday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Spanish Fork Cemetery, 400 South 400 East. Grandma we love you and will miss you! We are grateful for the reunion with loved ones you are enjoying now. Most of all we love you for doing it &qoute;your way!&qoute;.
