Verna Annie Bouck Hanson passed away on March 10, 2012, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Verna was born on October 15, 1910, to Eugene P. and Annie Bouck in Salt Lake City. She was raised in northwest Salt Lake City and she graduated from West High School.
Verna married Burness Hanson on October 3, 1934 in Salt Lake City. The union produced two sons, Lynn and Gordon. The family lived in Salt Lake City, Spring Lake, Utah, Payson, Utah, finally moving to Dugway Proving Grounds in 1952. Both Burness and Verna worked at Dugway for over twenty years. They both retired in 1972 and moved to Hemet, California. They lived in Hemet for eight years before moving back to Salt Lake City. Verna always laughingly said that she and Burness moved back to Utah to make sure that her grandchildren were being raised correctly. Burness passed away in 1990.
Verna greatly enjoyed all types of family gatherings, an occasional trip to Wendover, and had a great sense of humor. Verna will be greatly missed by her family and left many pleasant memories for them.
Verna was preceeded in death by her husband, Burness, her parents, and her step mother Erma. She is survived by her two sons, Lynn (JoAn) and Gordon (Joanne), two grand children, Eric and Sydney, one great granddaughter, Miya, and two brothers, Paul Bouck and Gene Bouck.
The family would like to thank the caring and hard working caregivers at the Emeritus Assisted Living, the Avenues Assisted Living and Inspiration Hospice who have cared for Verna over the last four years.
In accordance with Verna’s wishes, there will be a graveside service at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 16, 2012 with a viewing from 10-11:30 am at Russon Brothers Mortuary 255 S. 200 E., Salt Lake City.
