Vernon Byron Carr, age 88, passed away Friday, April 21, 2006 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born on May 18, 1917 in Bountiful to Annie Charlotte Call and Willard Gallard Carr and grew up on the family farm in Centerville, Utah. Vernon graduated from Davis High School. He married and was sealed to his sweetheart, Violet Schick on May 24, 1937 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Vernon?s life has been a life of service to his family, his business Carr Printing Co., the LDS Church, city, county, state, and special districts throughout Utah. Highlights of his service include: two terms as Mayor of Centerville, 50 years on the Deuel Creek Irrigation Board, 28 years on the South Davis Sewer District Board as Centerville?s representative and Board Chair. He was a charter member of the Centerville Chapter-Sons of the Utah Pioneers and became know as Mr. Election because of his involvement in the election process in the State of Utah. His church service included years as a scout leader, president of priesthood quorums, Ward Clerk, Stake Executive Secretary, and LDS temple ordinance worker. He began his career with Carr Printing Co. as a youth and continued until his retirement at age 82. Vernon is survived by his wife Violet; children: Nina Norman Beers, Lloyd Sandra Carr, Helen Bruce Roberts, Norma Carr, and Susan Lonny Hall; 1 sister, Sylvia Tingey; 21 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, 8 siblings, and 6 grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff of the South Davis Community Hospital for the loving service they rendered. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at the LDS Centerville 3rd Ward, 900 South 400 East, Centerville, Utah. A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah on Friday, April 28, 2006 from 6:00 ? 8:00 p.m. and also prior to the services at the church from 9:30 ? 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
