Vernon Knudsen Anderson

Vernon Knudsen Anderson passed away on January 2, 2017, in Bountiful, Utah. He was born to Oliver Martel and Vera Knudsen Anderson on December 24, 1941, in Junction, Utah. He grew up the sixth child in a close-knit family of eleven children. He attended Dixie State Jr. College for two years.  He married Peggy O'Neill in October 1966.  They have three children; Jamie Kae Baker, Julie Ann Anderson (Brian Steenblik), and Vernon Martel Anderson. They were later divorced.  He worked for AT&T for 34 years retiring in 2010.

After retiring, Vern moved to St. George, Utah.  He was an avid golfer. Many family members and friends enjoyed playing a round of golf with him.  Vern was passionate about riding four wheelers all over Utah with his younger brother Randy.  He enjoyed the time he spent with his brother.  He loved his three children and one son-in-law dearly.   He has three beautiful grandchildren Jessica Baker, Shay Baker, and Martel Steenblik.  He instilled in his children a desire of hard work and encouraged them in all their academic pursuits.

Vern had lived the last three years at Pheasant View Assisted Living, where he enjoyed the peace and serenity there. Our family would like to thank Pheasant View for the great care provided to our Dad.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his only son Martel, and siblings Kent Anderson, Betty Anderson, JaNel Bay, Boyd Anderson, Boyce Anderson, Randall Anderson, and foster brother Mike Haskie. He is survived by siblings; Alcea Slack, Sonja Bailey, Sara Roper (Glen), and Robert Anderson (Nikki); and by his two daughters, his son-in-law, and by 3 wonderful grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Whisper Wood Ward, 2679 South 1000 West Syracuse, Utah. Funeral services are Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at 2679 South 1000 West Syracuse, Utah. There will also be a viewing at the church immediately before the funeral, from 9:30 – 10:40 AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Charitable Service Trust in Vernon Anderson's name (https://www.dav.org/ways-to-give/)
