Violet Suzy Hill McKay, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother returned to her Heavenly Father on August 6, 2012. She was born February 25, 1919 in Ogden, Weber, Utah to Byron C. and Kristie H. Hill.
She attended schools in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School in 1936. She married her sweetheart, Kermit H. McKay, May 17, 1939 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple January 6, 1941.
During World War II she went with her husband to many military assignments while he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. She played the organ for military weddings and other church services.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a primary teacher and counselor, chorister, relief society president, counselor and teacher. She taught genealogy and served at the genealogy data center for 8 years.
She had many hobbies and talents, including quilting, sewing, crocheting, gardening, genealogy, music and acting in many plays. She participated in all kinds of sports.
She was one of the first 5 accredited flower show judges in the state of Utah. She attended classes at the U of U and BYU for 5 years to qualify.
She is survived by her children: Karole M. Price (Gary) and Kermit H. McKay II (Janet); 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and brother, Wayne B. Hill.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Bountiful Hills Ward Chapel, 1190 East Bountiful Hills Dr. (900 South). Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
