Wade Walker Workman

January 31, 1954 — August 27, 2017

Wade Walker Workman, age 63, passed away unexpectedly at home, in West Bountiful, UT on Sunday, August 27, 2017 of natural causes.  Wade was born January 31, 1954 to Wane Hillery and Jo Ann Ward Workman and was raised in Roosevelt, Utah.  Wade was an active young boy and spent his early years playing many different sports.  He excelled at track and field, football and basketball, and became an accomplished athlete at Union High School.  He held the school record in the javelin for many, many years and possibly still does.  His father, Wane, was an exceptional athlete, being awarded “Athlete of the Year,” and Wade followed in his footsteps when he was awarded All-State in football.  The tradition continued when Wade’s son was also recognized with an All-State award in baseball.  Wade was proud to be part of this legacy of exceptional athletes and often told his own son, “it’s in your genes.”  His father, Wane, taught him many other skills as a young man and shared his love of horses and roping with him, laying the foundation for his life.  Wade was married to Teresa Lamb Liebig for 32 years, and together they raised their three children; Sunie, Randi and Wane.  Wade and Teresa later divorced but remained united in the love and support of their children.  While raising his young family, Wade completed his undergraduate studies at Dixie State and Southern Utah Universities and graduated from Utah State University with an M.B.A..  Wade was a talented craftsman, and built many beautiful homes throughout Utah, several in the Roosevelt area and from St. George to Layton.  He was a supportive father and rarely missed one of his children’s events.  He passed his love of sports down to his son, Wane, and several of his grandchildren.  It is difficult to imagine how many hundreds of ball games he has attended over the past 30 plus years, but it was one of the things he loved most in life.  He was always there positively rooting them on.  It looks promising that the All-State award legacy will continue on through them.  He enjoyed spending time in his yard and maintained it beautifully.  He especially loved his bright, colorful flowers.  He would look forward to going out on weekends, either dancing or to dinner and a movie.  He became a passionate fan of horse racing and enjoyed spending hours on end studying different horses and analyzing their stats before picking his best bet.  He often traveled to different race tracks to watch them run.  Later in life, Wade married, divorced and remained friends with two other loving women, Julia Johnson and Jan Krahenbuhl.  Wade was preceded in death by his mother Jo Ann Workman, which forever left a hole in his heart.  He was unconditionally loved and supported, and is survived by his father and beloved step-mother, Wane and Jackie Workman; three sisters, Tami Ferguson (Dennis), Cheri Workman, and Sue Denver (Lance), all of Roosevelt, UT; his children, Sunie Thomas (Brett), Randi Sorensen (Jon), and Wane Workman (Carissa); and 13 adoring grandchildren.  Wade will be remembered as a hard-working, dedicated, reliable and honest man.  His children will be forever grateful for the many valuable life lessons they learned from him.  He was deeply loved by many and will be forever in our hearts.  Memorial services will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main, Farmington, UT, on Saturday, September 2, 2017.  Friends and family will be welcomed at a viewing from 9:45-10:45 am and funeral service at 11:00.  Interment will be at Bountiful City Cemetery.
