Wallace Ackerly Greenfield

February 22, 1922 — November 16, 2016

Wallace Ackerly Greenfield was joyfully reunited with his eternal companion on November 16, 2016.

He was born February 22, 1922 in Leaf Mountain Township, N.D., to Garold M. & Inez B. Zepp Greenfield.  Married Mada K. Muir, January 26, 1946 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, March 9, 1961.

He served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Alabama during World War II.  Towards the end of his service, he met and married the love of his life, Mada, in California.  From there, he returned home to North Dakota and continued farming and started his family.  He later moved his wife and family to Centerville, UT.  After doing several different jobs in Centerville, including Smoot Dairy Farm, he became employed with the USPS as an auto mechanic.  When he retired from there, he devoted his time to his grandchildren.  In 1990, he and his wife traveled across the United States in their motor home.  In their travels they found a great nesting spot in Pahrump, NV, where they lived out their golden years together.  They made many wonderful friends while there and absolutely loved it.  He served many different positions in the LDS church throughout his life.  He and his wife also served as ordinance workers in the Las Vegas Temple for 5 years.

In May of 2015, due to increased health problems, he finally gave in to move back to Utah to be closer to family.  He loved gardening and was able to do it until moving back to Utah.  There he continued growing his favorite garden vegetables in grow boxes.  He was an amazing man and will be missed by all.

Our family is grateful for the loving care he was given by the nurses and doctors at St. Marks Hospital and St. Joseph Villa Rehab where he peacefully joined his wife whom he missed so much.

Preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and sisters, Mada K. Greenfield (spouse), Wallace Junior Greenfield (son), 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Survived by daughters Linda  Tabler (Robert Lawhorn), Katherine Zurn (Norman), Diane Ayala (Alfred), daughter-in-law Kari Greenfield,  11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, 1 sister and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Millcreek 6th Ward, 4558 S. 600 E., Murray, UT.  Friends may call prior to services at the Ward from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  Burial will follow at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 W., Bountiful, UT.
