Surrounded by family, Wally peacefully died March 12, 2016 from complications of an aggressive and rare form of liver cancer. Wally was born October 12, 1946 in Powers Lake, North Dakota to Wallace A. Greenfield and Mada Kathryn Muir. As a youth, he moved to Utah and graduated from Davis High School. He accepted a call to serve as a missionary in the North British Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shortly after returning home, he met his sweetheart and eternal companion, Kari Louise Selleneit. They were married July 12, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. He loved Kari with all his heart. "Together they sought to do the will of their Father in Heaven." The Holy Ghost was their life-long teacher and brought them great knowledge and comfort. Together they have four children and eight grandchildren: Eddelhide (died in infancy), Heidi Greenfield (daughter Cimberee), Kandace Breinholt (Kent-children Landon, Braidon, Kaleb, and Breanne), and Jedediah Greenfield (Kallie-children Elle, Zander, and Emeri). Wally loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed Sunday dinners all together. He made it a point to listen to and get to know each of his children and grandchildren and find ways to be involved in their lives. Wally graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He worked most of his career in real estate managing Smoot Development. After retiring from real estate, he worked as an accountant for Healing Mountain Massage School. From his days as a missionary until his death, he was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He faithfully served in many callings including, Bishop of the West Bountiful 9th and 10th Wards, Stake Sunday School President, Bountiful Temple Ordinance worker, and home teacher. He loved the scriptures and studied them most every day. In the last days of his mortal life, he requested to listen to General Conference talks as a source of comfort. Wally testified of Jesus Christ as his Savior, Redeemer, and Advocate in every way.
The family would like to thank the West Bountiful 5th Ward for all their help and service throughout this trial. They would also like to thank all the many friends that remembered them in prayers and assistances. And also wish to thank the staff of the Intermountain Homecare & Hospice, especially Renee, for all the support and assistance they provided.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2016, at the West Bountiful 5th Ward, 840 North 800 West, West Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may visit Thursday, between 6 and 8 p.m., at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Bountiful, Utah, and before the funeral from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
