Walter Carlton Yose, Jr. passed away on Monday, April 12, 2010 in Bountiful, Utah. Walter was born on 17 December 1918 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He spent his life as a rancher on the ranch homesteaded by his grandparents between Big Piney and LaBarge, Wyoming. Walter graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City and went to the University of Utah where he studied mining geology. He married Maurine Watson on May 29, 1941 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Walter was very active in community affairs having served as president of the Big Piney Commercial Club, president of the Sublette County Farm Bureau, secretary of the LaBarge Roundup Association, a member of BLM Grazing Boards, Vice-President of the Wyoming Stockgrowers, President of the Green River Cattleman’s Association, a member of the University of Wyoming Agricultural Advisory Committee and represented the State of Wyoming as a member of the Old West Regional Commission. He also served several years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Sublette County Retirement Center. Walter was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served as a Branch President of the Upper Green River Branch then later Bishop of the Big Piney Ward. This service spanned a period of 20 years. Walter also served as the Kemmerer, Wyoming Stake Executive Secretary, a High Counselor, a Primary, Sunday School and an early morning seminary teacher. Walter especially enjoyed baling hay, photography, reading, crossword puzzles, genealogy and writing. Walter is survived by his four children, Connie Yose, Carol Rees Dee, Susan Hoffman Steve and Stephen Yose Karen, 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, a sister Louise Cullimore and her husband Grant and sister-in-law Kathryn Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter C. and Miranda Yose, his brother Frank, a grandson Steven Hoffman and his wife Maurine whom he missed so much these past few years. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m, Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Big Piney LDS Ward Chapel, Big Piney, Wyoming. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah and Saturday from 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. at the church in Wyoming prior to services. Interment-Planview Cemetery, Big Piney, Wyoming.
