Wanda Pack Clayton, 96, died Wednesday, September 30, 2015, in Centerville, Utah, of congestive heart and kidney failure. She was born July 13, 1919, in Bountiful, Utah to Hyrum Osmer Pack and Sylvia Mabel Compton Pack, the fourth of seven children. She was proud to be a granddaughter of John Pack, an 1847 Utah Pioneer. Wanda was a kind, thoughtful, nonjudgmental person. She loved to sew, especially for others. She was a wonderful mother who was understanding and helpful and much loved by her five children. Wanda graduated from Davis High School and attended LDS Business College for one year before finding a job during the depression with Christiansen Furniture Company. She married Archer Robert Clayton in the Salt Lake Temple on October 15, 1941. They had been married 56 years when Archer passed away in 1997.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life, including a mission to the Washington D.C. Visitors’ Center.
She is survived by her five children: Robert Clayton (Julia), Janet Plewe (Steven), Susan Rather (John), Richard Clayton (Jeanine), and Corliss Clayton; 21 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Shirley Wride. Preceded in death by her husband, Archer, and one grandchild, Ellen Ann Clayton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Centerville 1st Ward Chapel, 160 South 300 East, Centerville. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, and Monday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment- Centerville City Cemetery.
