Wayne R. Ahleen age 93, passed away peacefully from natural causes, surrounded by his family on October 3, 2013. Wayne was born on October 27, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ellen Erickson and Klaus Ahleen. He married the love of his life, Maxine Hunter in 1942, they were married 71 years. Wayne was drafted that same year, serving four years in the Army during World War II.
After the War he and Maxine settled down in Salt Lake City. He was a devoted father to 5 children. He retired from Castle Metals in 1981. Wayne was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed traveling with his family. He was happy when he could make people laugh at the songs he would sing and stories he would tell.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine, and 3 children: Sharon Yearsley (Dennis), of Ogden; Jan Morris, of Bountiful; Kent Ahleen (Denise), of St. George; Daughter-in-law, Patricia Thomas, of Bountiful; also 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Proceeding him in death are his parents; two sons, Scott and Dennis Ahleen; his brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Faye Ahleen; and grandson, Justin Ahleen.
Funeral services will be held at ??? Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013. Friends and family may also visit Friday, between 6 and 8 p.m, or Saturday between 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
