Wayne D Bradfield, 56, of Bountiful, Utah, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, of a sudden heart attack.
Wayne was born on May 15, 1967, to Lois Petersen Bradfield (mother) and Don Bradfield in Delta, Utah. He grew to love Delta and spent much time there with his grandparents, cousins, and siblings who he loved dearly. Wayne had a great love of hunting, fishing, and simply spending time with others.
He graduated from Bountiful High School in 1985. There he had the opportunity to do many things he loved including football, band, and jazz band. He played many instruments – his favorite was the saxophone. He was also in the school marching band where he met his sweetheart, Cathleen Fackrell. He has always loved Cathleen and knew he wanted to be with her forever. As long as she was happy, he was happy.
Wayne and Cathleen were married on June 21, 1985. One year later, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. This year they celebrated 38 years of marriage. Together they raised seven children. Wayne loved being a husband and father and would do anything for his family. His family was his greatest treasure and he loved them without end. Wayne did his best to be there for them in all things big and small. His family’s happiness and well-being was his top priority.
Wayne made many friends all throughout his life. He cherished each friendship and once you were his friend, you were his friend forever. He was the type of man to have your back at a moment’s notice, no questions asked. He was also always willing to give you the shirt off his back, and the pants and shoes if needed – even if it meant he went without.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. His favorite callings were working with the youth including Scouts and Sunday School. He was always able to see their potential. They each left lasting impressions on one another.
Wayne was a Master Plumber and used his skills and knowledge to bless many lives. He used plumbing as an opportunity to help his neighbors and friends, and taught many apprentices and scouts basic and advanced plumbing skills. This led to many service opportunities.
He was an incredibly hard-working man who made sacrifices for countless people. Many times he would help strangers with food, shelter, and basic needs because that’s just who he was. He even helped homeless families get jobs and get back on their feet. He taught his children to serve others and never look down on anyone, for you never know what they are going through. This led to many friends staying over from time to time and being uplifted by Wayne and his family.
Being a grandpa was Wayne’s greatest joy in life. He took great pride in his 17 grandchildren and loved each of them equally. He gave his best effort to attend every event they had, reminding them that they were always his top priority and each was his favorite. He was always available for their happiness, from reading a story to attending sporting competitions.
He is survived by his wife and sweetheart, Cathleen Fackrell Bradfield, their seven children Kendall (Tiffany) Bradfield, Amber (Chris) Allred, Becca Darling, Kimberly (Josh) McNabb, Kyle (Tiffany) Bradfield, Ryan Bradfield, and Emily Bradfield, brothers Grant (Denice) Bradfield and Michael (Burgundi) Bradfield, and 17 grandchildren who adored him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Petersen Bradfield, sister June Bradfield, and sister-in-law Marie Fackrell Jackson.
