Biography

Wayne Hoyt Carmichael, age 92, passed away May 2, 2014, quietly and peacefully incident to age at his home in Bountiful, Utah.
Wayne was born January 24, 1922 in Hoytsville, Utah to Montgomery Taylor and Winifred Lee Carmichael. Wayne graduated from North Summit High School. He married Lois Kathryn Judd July 21, 1944 in Del Rio Texas while in the service and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Wayne proudly served in the United States Air Force for 21 years from 1942 to 1963. After military service, he spent 18 years at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1988. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wayne took delight in, as well as being known for his talent in building many wonderful wood and jewelry projects, and for building his own home. He will be remembered for his love of outdoor activities, including camping, snowmobiling, gardening, etc. and especially fishing.
He is survived by 3 brothers: Lee (Betty), Tom (Carolyn), Mike (Argie) and many friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and 2 sisters.
The family would like to thank the neighbors and the staff of the Summit Home Health & Hospice (especially Brenda Postel, RN) for their kindness and loving care.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Orchard 1st Ward, 3707 South 800 West, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held between 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the ward on Wednesday. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation is requested to a charity of your choice.
